FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS THE PACKAGING DISCREET?

All of our reagent kits will be shipped in a plain white box depending on the order size. It allows the box to easily blend in with other packages and not stand out. Additionally, the outside is labeled with the shipping label and your shipping address.  Our Shipping name on the label can be recognized as PR_USA.

IS IT SAFE TO ORDER THROUGH THE MAIL?

Absolutely, assuming the seller is following the DOT requirements for shipping hazardous materials. Unfortunately, we have observed this is not the case with some other vendors on the market.  All reagents are packaged to meet and/or exceed the 49 CFR shipping requirements and are properly labeled.

HOW MANY TESTS CAN I GET FROM A BOTTLE?

Each bottle contains 10mL, most competitors only include half of that. Also, you can easily get over 200 individual uses from each bottle so share with your friends and keep everyone safe.

WHAT IS THE YELLOW PAD IN THE PACKAGING?

In addition to the green child resistant container, the reagents will arrive in a sealed bag with a yellow absorbant that is capable of capturing all the reagent in the event of a leak during transit.

how long will the reagents last?

Most reagents have a shelf life of around one year if kept in a cool dark place such as a refrigerator.  Please note that all reagents should be brought to room temperature BEFORE opening them as condensation on the inside may contaminate the reagent.

how do i dispose of expired reagents?

First and foremost, protective gloves (Nitrile or Latex) and eye protection is a must. We recommend the lid be removed and the bottle turned upside down over running water. Roll the bottle side to side to allow the reagent to slowly drip out. The dangers are mitigated once it is diluted into running water, but be sure to wash out any sink or drain from any remaining reagent.  Immediately wash hands!

THE REAGENT KIT CHANGED COLOR, IS IT STILL GOOD?

Most likely, yes.  Many reagents will have some minor color changes after they are bottled.  Marquis and Mecke will arrive clear and slowly turn darker over time. Mandelin will arrive slightly orange and will fade to yellow, be sure to shake Mandelin well before use as it separates.  To ensure the longest shelf life, follow the recommended storage in the fridge.

CAN I TEST THE REAGENT WITH SUGAR OR ASPRIN?

Many times sugar and asprin do not react consistently due to the way they are processed.  As such, we do not recommend this as a reliable method to test your reagents. We highly recommend using benedryl (diphenhydramine) as a good test to determine if their Marquis/Mecke is still usable.  Benedryl will cause Marquis/Mecke to quickly turn a bright yellowish orange.  For Ehrlich we have found the best reaction using capsules of melatonin or 5-HTP powder to observe a purple color change.
